Coventry Woods Christmas Craft Fair and Bake Sale
The Coventry Woods Christmas Craft Fair and Bake Sale was a tremendous success. There was a happy, festive feeling in the Amenity Room, and many people commented on this.
Many thanks to all of you that volunteered to make our Weekend a memorable one! A big hand to all the men that helped with the set up and take down of the vendor’s area; those fabulous bakers whose donations filled the air with delicious scents of home-baked goods; and let‘s not forget the gals that tended to the sale of the baked goods. Team work at its finest.
Many guests commented on the quality of the crafts displayed by our vendors. Thank you.
Thanks also to everyone for your generous support of the Christmas Gift Baskets. This is the third year in a row, that a Coventry Woods resident or a family member has won a Gift Basket. It’s absolutely amazing, that with the hundreds of tickets sold for these Gift Baskets, which are valued over $ 250.00, that the winners this year, should be two of our neighbours. Congratulations to Karen in Unit #57 and Dale in Unit #80. Next time, the rest of us will be waiting for our names to be drawn!

See the calendar in the Clubhouse mail room for meeting dates–see you there!

Christmas in the Clubhouse was a successful festive event this year. Everyone enjoyed Dave Turner’s Christmas piano music and the carol singers, as well as a verygenerous Chinese food combination dinner. Betty Bartlett won the 50/50 draw, and Darlene Reston won the Santa gift from under the tree.
Many thanks to the Social Committee for decorating the clubhouse and organizing this cozy time for the community to get together.

The Roofing Project is now almost 99% complete. What a difference the new roofs and gutter systems have made. Owners are saying that it has not only improved the look of their home, but also the value of their home. Congratulations to the Roofing Committee (Brenda Wilson, Jack Van Dyke, Jae Smigel, and Ed Kennedy) for the fine job of keeping us informed as the work on our roofs was progressing with Cambie Roofing.

July 23, was a bright sunny day, and our first Barbecue and Bocce Ball Tournament since 2019. The Barbecues were fired up and everyone enjoyed their dinner. The Bocce Ball Tournament was a success, with several novice players, as well as those returning to the game. Pictures of residents taking home trophies was posted on the Clubhouse door and the Coventry Woods website. Two lovely baskets filled with wine and all kinds of goodies, were raffled off. Congratulations to the winners of the Bocce Ball and the basket raffle.
Thanks to the Social Club for organizing the Bocce tournament and Barbecue. We had a great time on a beautiful evening. Congratulations to Bocce champions Pam Cowan and Wayne Bernard.

The first social event of the year, after our two year hiatus, was a Pizza Night. Food was great, conversation was stimulating, and prizes were won. The lucky people to win a bottle of wine were Carol Josey, #9 and Laurie Floden, #87. The 50/50 winner was Dona Klyn. Congratulations to all! Maybe next time, you could be the winner!!
A suggestion was put forward that a Book Club start up sometime in the fall. If you would like to join, stay tuned for further information.
There was also a suggestion to start a Coffee/Tea Hour one morning every other week. At this point in time we have not established the day of the week or time. A notice will be posted soon inviting residents to bring their coffee/tea and join in on the conversation.
Many of you will remember the successful Craft Fair we held two years ago in the Clubhouse. We have many extremely talented people in our complex and this is an opportunity for them to display their talents. We are setting the date of Saturday, November 5th for our 2022 Coventry Woods Craft Fair. Exhibitor tables are open to owners and their family members. Further information regarding the Craft Fair and a sign-up sheet for exhibitors will be posted shortly. On November 5th, owners, their relatives, and their friends are welcome to attend this festive event.
